Welcome
I am currently Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Providence College. I received my Ph.D from Columbia University in May 2025. I am also the current Review Editor for the Journal of Philosophy of Education and a lead organizer for (and co-founder of) the North American Association for Philosophy & Education (NAAPE).
My current research program is represented in three strands that often intersect: moral understanding, practical reasoning, and generative AI. I've published on technology ethics, moral perception, the ethics of teacher directivity, and moral epiphanies.
Recently I've given talks on the epistemic risks and limits of using LLMs for inquiry (at the 100th Joint Session of the Aristotelian Society and Mind Association and at the University of San Diego); Iris Murdoch's critique of Stuart Hampshire's theory of practical reasoning (at Queen's University); the explanatory role perception plays in the phenomenology of moral understanding (at the University of Vienna); and the Aristotelian minor intellectual virtues of sunesis and gnome (at Columbia University).
I have a forthcoming chapter in Iris Murdoch: Literature and Philosophy in Dialogue (Palgrave Macmillan) where I develop an account of what I call "moral productivity theater" and flesh out its characteristics through a study of Iris Murdoch's novel The Bell. I also have a forthcoming article in the Journal of Philosophy of Education about the landscape of the field and philosophical method.
From 2019 to 2024, I was Lead Researcher for The National Ethics Project, a large grant funded, mixed-methods research project focused on understanding where, how, and why ethics education occurs in American colleges and universities.
In my spare time, I enjoy film photography, rock climbing, cooking, films, poetry, and design.
